I recently went on a road trip, and I figured there’s no better way to write about a road trip than with an Arcadia Ales Thunder Trail ESB in hand! This ESB truly lives up to its name, so much so that I almost couldn’t finish it. ESBs are a style that I’m really struggling to enjoy. Definitely a well-crafted beer, as one would expect from Arcadia!
As I mentioned, I recently went on a road trip. My best friend and I drove from Saint Louis to Chicago to watch the best rugby team in the world (trust me, that’s not an exaggeration) take on the US National Rugby team. On the way there, though, we made a brief stop in Joliet, cruising along some small highways and Route 66, to visit the Old Joliet Prison Park. The Old Joliet Prison has been featured in nearly a dozen television shows and movies, the most notable being The Blues Brothers and Fox’s Prison Break. Prison Break aired for the four years that I was in high school, so while the show’s plot sometimes had holes and the characters may have made some wacky choices, the show holds a very special place in my heart. There’s tall barbed-wire fences around all of the buildings at the Old Joliet Prison, but being able to touch the towering exterior walls of the facility was still incredible. In blog news, I recently made another trip to Craft Beer Cellar for a six-pack, so I’ll have a variety of posts for you this month. I’ll also be doing a “Beer Advent Calendar,” so stay tuned for some mini-posts all through December! As always, I’ll be providing some stories with my beer talk, so if there’s any topics you’d like to see covered, send me a tweet!
