It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year.

I’ll be honest, I can’t stand winter, but it does have one redeeming quality- Saint Louis winter means it’s stout season, and I’ve got some good ones on deck this month.
The 4 Hands Chocolate Milk Stout gift sets went on sale at the brewery today and will be available around Saint Louis soon.
I’ve also begun my craft beer “advent calendar!” With a few exceptions, I’ll be drinking a new beer every day and writing about it here. I’ve devised a highly sophisticated method to choose what beers I’ll drink each day (ok, that’s a lie. I’ve got a scribbled posterboard chart and a bunch of beers in a box), so I’ll be tweeting my daily beer in the mornings and I’ll have a blog post up by about 10 pm that night!ImageImageImageToday’s beer is Evil Twin’s Christmas Eve at a New York City Hotel Room. Evil Twin has become one of my favorite breweries this year, after drinking Bikini Beer all summer and enjoying Loomi Weisse, their perfect summertime collab with Perennial Artisan Ales. Christmas Eve is a great Russian Imperial Stout that immediately brings Old Rasputin to mind. This roasty stout is the perfect intro to December.ImageToday, I finished what may be the best book I’ve read all year: The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace. After stumbling upon this book on NPR one day and waiting months for it (I logged on to the SLPL website only to discover I was 15th in line for the book), I finally got to read it, and it is phenominal. Jeff Hobbs details the life and death of his college roommate in an immersive, yet impartial way, and once I reached the last 50 pages of the book, it was impossible to put it down. I highly, highly recommend this book.
Be sure to check back over the month of December! I’ll be drinking some tasty brews from Boulevard, Stone, 4 Hands, Rogue, and more!
