Hey everyone! With the beginning of November, Saint Louis has seen a definite drop in temperature, but that doesn’t mean I couldn’t enjoy one last summery beer before winter hits.Recently, I drank Kiuchi Brewery’s Hitachino Nest Real Ginger Ale. This wasn’t my favorite ginger beer, but was definitely not the worst I had. It poured a beautiful orange-ginger color, with a lot of fruity notes. At 7%, this certainly isn’t your back-porch lawnmower beer, but was definitely still refreshing. Kiuchi began producing craft beer in 1996 due to a change in Japanese laws and has been in the US since 2000. Since we’re talking about a Japanese beer, I thought this would make a perfect segue into my chosen topic for this post.. the majestic Shiba Inu.I recently had the opportunity to babysit a pair of adorable Shiba scamps, and I am obsessed now. The Shiba Inu is one of the smallest members of the Spitz family of dogs- other breeds in this family include the Alaskan Klee Klai, the Corgi, and the Keeshond. Bred to hunt birds and small game in the brushwoods, these independent and feisty dogs have grown quite popular in the United States, in part due to the success of the Doge meme. Red Shiba Inu are probably the most widely known, but in this blogger’s humble opinion, the Black and Tan pups are the cutest!
