A super stout and a super anniversary.

Hey guys! Welcome to post one of two for the evening. I took off from work early today, and came home to enjoy a late lunch of oatmeal and an Excel Southside Stout.

This rich, malty brew is made in Breese, IL, at the same plant that manufactures legendary sodas like Ski! I really enjoyed the medium-weight mouthfeel and bitter flavor notes. This beer gets a C+. Not the most magnificent stout, but tasty and local!
Today also marks a very special anniversary- 25 years ago today, The Simpsons became a standalone show. I took the opportunity to watch a DVR'd copy of one of the most beloved episodes: "Marge vs The Monorail." In this episode, Mr. Burns must pay the town of Springfield 3 million dollars and while Marge hopes the city will use the money to pay for much-needed road renovations, the rest of Springfield's citizens are taken in by the song and dance  of con man Lyle Lanley, who wishes to sell them a monorail. The episode is notable for being one of many that contain a musical number; there was even a clip show episode based only on musical numbers.
Perhaps the best-loved musical number is this classic earworm, co-written by Michael Jackson himself. Dance along if you can!
